Doors, from Commonwealth Ave to Chic Bistro

Hello my name is Joseph Gouveia My family and myself bought this property back in 2013. With my kids, my younger cousin and my brother in law. Wine and food is in our culture so we decided to open this little bit of Portuguese Mediterranea. And we also have a brick oven pizza. We updated one hundred percent of the building and we try to be as close to that era as possible. So the reason we bought these doors is because they were, I believe, installed back in the 1860s at Five Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. Basically, I like things that are old and I like to restore as much as possible. The doors that came off of Five Comm. Ave was not a very big project in terms of the scope of materials that came from it, but it was very representative of the great relationship we have with this contractor named FH Perry. They’re very high-end contractors, and and very conscientious about how they handle their waste and reusable materials. These doors, while structural, they’re really incredibly decorative and historic. They wound up donating them to us. Now, they’ll live for another hundred years!
